Fire
Department

“Courage isn't the absence of fear — it's responding to a 3-alarm call and realizing you left your coffee at the station.”

Station House Bulletin

The BugsVille Fire Department stands as the first and last line of defense against the forces of combustion, chemical catastrophe, and the occasional citizen who insists their barbecue is “totally under control.” Our firefighters respond to emergencies around the clock, fueled by duty, adrenaline, and Station Kitchen's legendary 4-alarm chili.

With a proud tradition of courage, service, and honor, the BFD maintains readiness at all times — which means sleeping in our boots, keeping the engines warm, and never, under any circumstances, letting the chili pot go empty. When the alarm sounds, we answer. When the alarm doesn't sound, we check the batteries. It's usually the batteries.

Calls Responded

Station Divisions

Every division maintains a state of constant readiness. Readiness levels may vary after lunch.

Engine Company No. 1

Est. 2026

Ready to Roll

First on scene, last to leave. Engine Company No. 1 responds to structural fires, vehicle fires, and that one barbecue that got 'a little out of hand.' Current fleet status: polished, fueled, and the siren works on the second try. Response motto: 'We'll be there before the fire gets comfortable.'

Hazmat Response Team

Est. 2026

Suited Up

Handles hazardous materials incidents, chemical spills, and the occasional mysterious fume wafting from the DOT break room. Team members undergo rigorous training in containment protocols, decontamination procedures, and not touching things that glow. Current hazmat suits: 6. Current hazmat suits that fit properly: 4.

Arson Investigation Unit

Est. 2026

Suspicious

Investigates the origin and cause of fires throughout BugsVille. Most cases are resolved quickly — it's usually someone who 'just wanted a small campfire.' The unit maintains a 94% case resolution rate, which would be higher if people stopped lying about their campfire sizes. Current open cases: classified.

Station Kitchen

Est. 2026

Chili On — 4th Alarm

The heart and soul of Station No. 1. The kitchen operates 24/7, producing meals of varying edibility and one award-winning chili recipe that has been classified as a department secret. After the Parks & Rec inaugural BBQ incident — which required BFD response — Parks & Rec has been permanently banned from operating grills. The ban remains in effect.

Dalmatian Division

Est. 2026

Good Boy

The BFD's K-9 support unit. Currently staffed by zero actual dalmatians, but the department maintains a line item in the budget 'just in case.' Responsibilities include: boosting morale, looking photogenic on the department calendar, and barking at the arson investigator. The division is accepting applications from qualified spotted dogs.

Community Outreach & Education

Est. 2026

Stop, Drop & Educate

Teaches BugsVille citizens essential fire safety: stop, drop, and roll; don't leave candles unattended; and no, you cannot 'fight' a grease fire with more grease. Recent programs include school visits, open house events, and a pamphlet titled 'Your Smoke Detector Is Not a Suggestion.' Pamphlet uptake: disappointing but persistent.

Inter-Departmental Relations

Our ongoing collaborations with BugsVille's other municipal departments. All incidents are documented.

BugsVille Police Department

BPD

Allied

BFD and BPD share a parking lot and an unspoken agreement: we don\'t ask about their speed traps, they don\'t ask about the time we accidentally set the parking lot on fire. Twice. We maintain an excellent working relationship.

Dept. of Transportation

DOT

Chili Secured

Our Hazmat Response Team was dispatched to DOT\'s break room after reports of 'mysterious fumes.' It was reheated chili. We confiscated it for safety analysis. The analysis concluded it was delicious. DOT has not received it back.

Bureau of Chauffeured Transport

BCT

Tour Dispute

BCT\'s city tour route includes our station — specifically, 'the fire station that technically burned down once.' We have asked them to remove this from the tour script. They have made the font larger.

BugsVille Racing League

BRL

Standing By

Every BRL race weekend, we station an engine at the track. Not because we expect a fire. Because we know these people. Our Safety Commission has recommended helmets. BRL says they\'re 'considering it.' We\'ve pre-positioned foam.

Public Transit

BPT

Obstacle Logged

A BPT bus once blocked our fire engine for eleven minutes during a call. BPT insists the bus was 'on schedule.' We have added BPT to our list of natural obstacles, alongside fallen trees and confused deer.

Parks & Recreation

BPR

Grill Ban Active

Following the Parks & Rec inaugural team-building BBQ — which required two engines and a strongly-worded incident report — Parks & Rec has been permanently banned from operating grills. The ban remains in effect and is non-negotiable.

Waste Management

BWM

Liaison Active

The 'Dumpster #14 Incident' remains classified. What we can say: BWM now has a permanent BFD liaison, a fire extinguisher in every truck, and our direct number on speed dial. They\'ve been very cooperative since.

BugsVille News Network

BNN

BNN\'s coverage of the department has been fair, accurate, and occasionally embarrassing. Their headline 'BFD Responds to Own Kitchen Fire' was technically correct, which is the worst kind of correct.

BugsVille Wiki Contributors

BWC

Recipe Classified

BWC attempted to document the legendary BFD chili recipe for the wiki. The recipe has been classified at the highest level of municipal secrecy. BWC published the article anyway with '[REDACTED]' where ingredients should be. We subscribed to their RSS feed. For surveillance purposes.

Join the BugsVille Fire Department

Step 1: Answer the Call

Feel the pull of duty when you hear a siren? Good. Toggle the BFD role in your account settings. No application needed — we believe in trial by fire. Literally.

Step 2: Learn the Ropes

Familiarize yourself with the engine, the hoses, and the unwritten rule that the new firefighter always cleans the truck. You'll also learn the station's coffee preferences. This is not optional.

Step 3: Into the Blaze

Respond to calls, save lives, and earn the respect of BugsVille's citizens. Also, you get a spot at the chili table. This alone is worth the commitment.

Courage, service, and an iron stomach for station chili. That's all it takes.
