Official Mission Statement
The BugsVille Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to the proactive stewardship of municipal green space assets through community-oriented outdoor synergy initiatives, cross-departmental nature engagement frameworks, and the sustained contemplation of recreational infrastructure.
Our department strives to foster an environment in which citizens may, at some future date yet to be determined, enjoy the theoretical benefits of parks, open spaces, and related amenities — pending completion of ongoing feasibility assessments, environmental impact reviews, and the resolution of several interdepartmental memoranda currently under advisement.
Adopted unanimously by the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (sole member: the department head)

Our Divisions
Each division operates with the utmost dedication to appearing busy.
Bureau of Bench Placement
Est. 2026
Currently in month 18 of a comprehensive study into optimal bench orientation. Preliminary findings suggest benches should face 'a direction.' Final report expected never.
Division of Picnic Table Oversight
Est. 2026
Ensures all municipal picnic tables remain stationary and accounted for. Conducts weekly inventory. No tables have moved. The division considers this a major success.
Office of Trail Contemplation
Est. 2026
Tasked with considering whether trails should exist, and if so, where they might theoretically go. Has produced 14 feasibility studies, all inconclusive.
Squirrel Relations Board
Est. 2026
Serves as the official diplomatic liaison between BugsVille citizens and the local squirrel population. Relations are strained following the Acorn Incident of last Tuesday.
Subcommittee on Cloud Observation
Est. 2026
Publishes a quarterly cloud report for the citizens of BugsVille. Last quarter's findings: 'There were clouds. Some were big. Some were small. More research needed.'
Fountain Maintenance Task Force
Est. 2026
Responsible for the maintenance of BugsVille's one (1) fountain. Currently in the 'assessment phase' to determine if the fountain contains water. Early signs point to yes.
Our Process
A proven four-phase cycle of continuous improvement consideration.
Research & Discovery
Months 1-6
Identify that something could potentially be done. Form a subcommittee to discuss the possibility of forming a committee.
Planning & Strategy
Months 7-12
Develop a comprehensive plan to create a plan. Schedule meetings to discuss meeting schedules.
Community Engagement
Months 13-18
Present findings to the community. Collect feedback. File feedback in the feedback filing cabinet. Lock filing cabinet.
Implementation Review
Months 19-24
Review whether implementation is feasible. Determine that more research is needed. Return to Phase 1.
Inter-Departmental Relations
Our ongoing collaborations with BugsVille's other municipal departments.
BugsVille Police Department
BPD
We report suspicious squirrel activity to BPD on a bi-weekly basis. They have asked us to stop. We have filed their request and will review it in Q3.
Dept. of Transportation
DOT
We submitted a pothole repair request for the area near Park Bench #23 approximately four months ago. DOT has confirmed receipt. We await further correspondence.
BugsVille Fire Department
BFD
BFD responded admirably to the incident at our inaugural team-building BBQ. We have since been asked not to operate grills. The ban remains in effect.
Public Transit
BPT
We formally proposed a bus stop near the future site of a potential park. BPT declined, citing 'the absence of an actual park.' We consider this a temporary setback.
BugsVille News Network
BNN
BNN covered our grand ribbon-cutting ceremony last month. Their headline read: 'Parks Department Cuts Ribbon; Nobody Attends.' We appreciated the coverage.
BugsVille Racing League
BRL
BRL occasionally uses our parking lot for overflow. We charge them nothing because we have no mechanism to collect fees. This is being reviewed.
Waste Management
BWM
Waste Management collected our recycling bins last Tuesday. We had not requested this service. When we inquired, they said it was 'taken care of.' We have filed a replacement request and are trying not to think about the phrasing.
Bureau of Chauffeured Transport
BCT
We requested a dedicated shuttle route to our planned park site. BCT dispatched a single cab. The driver circled the empty lot twice, said 'this isn\'t a park,' and left. The meter was running.
BugsVille Wiki Contributors
BWC
BWC wrote a comprehensive article about the parks. We reviewed it and noted it didn't mention the squirrels enough. They added a squirrel subsection. We said it was insufficient. They added a second subsection. We have requested a dedicated squirrel article. Negotiations continue.
Employee of the Month
This section is currently under review by the Awards & Recognition Subcommittee. The subcommittee will convene once a quorum is established. Current quorum requirement: 1 member. Current membership: 0.
